Papagayo in OS X 10.7 Lion not working

Post by matthewrobson »

Hi All,
Sure its me being stupid, but upgraded to OSX.7 this morning and all of a sudden Papagayo doesn't work. Anybody have a similar problem, and does anyone have a solution?

Thanks!

temporary fix till they post an update

Post by matthewrobson »

Ok, so not really a fix, but certainly a get-around.

I've installed crossover for mac, a very handy utility that lets you run windows software natively under osx without requriing a copy of windows or a crumy emulation mode window. It costs about 30 dollars or so I think, but allowed me to install the windows version of papagayo under osx and it works just fine.

Anybody found a fix for this problem yet?

Would be nice to be able to run the OS X version on MAC.

I think your out of luck.

I've just downloaded the source code to it to see if I could build a Lion version for everyone, surprisingly it appears to predominantly written in the Python scripting language. unfortunately there is a few precompiled DLL's that the source is not included for..
..so its not really opensource as the page suggests.

I was just looking for a fix for this myself.

The console shows these errors.

No idea if we have to install something to get it to work in osx but the wx.app is missing.

Papagayo should have been built into anime studio. Much better than the inbuilt speech thing.

Yeah that looks like python module wx is missing. I'm away from a computer at the mo else I'd have a go at resolving.

Python 2.9 supports wx in 64 bit mode. I haven't updated my computer to lion so I haven't been able to test to see if Papagayo works in lion with python 2.9. So does anybody know if it works?

If I understand this correctly, Python is part of the Mac OS operating system, but is not up to date? If you download the latest version of Python and install that, you should be able to run Papagayo again in Lion?

Is it then (or could it not be) not part of the latest OS update 10.7.3?

Don't rely on that. You may be able to install all the latest frameworks, but Papagayo may still not work. (This is what I hear and read often.)

Use Wineskin Winery

Post by ncr100 »

Using Wineskin Winery on OSX I got it to work.

1. I installed Wineskin Winery: http://wineskin.doh123.com/tiki-index.p ... =Downloads

2. Then I downloaded the Windows EXE of Papagayo: http://www.lostmarble.com/downloads/pap ... 32_1.2.exe

3. I ran Wineskin, and allowed it to update itself to the latest Engine version.

4. I created a blank Skin named Papagayo.

5. I ran the Skin, and chose to install a Windows application. I picked the EXE, from above.

6. The install went quickly, and copied the EXE inside the Skin. Running the Skin brings up Papagayo.

I'm not a Papagayo user so I don't know how to get it to playback a file from end-to-end (e.g. the Tutorial "Hasta la vista baby" does play when I scrub but how to get it to autoplay?). But it does make sounds, and looks like Windows on my Mac. Next is to figure how to export the results to my 3d app.

NOTE: I've previously installed X11 on my Mac which is a general requirement for WINE. It's free and available from Apple on your installation disc, and I believe as a download.

EDIT: Found an importer for LightWave 3d: http://www.mikegreen.name/Lscripts.html
