Unexpected quit while rendering on OS X Tiger

Hello,

Pretty much every time I render an animation Moho has an unexpected quit giving me this type of an error bellow. I am exporting a quicktime movie, 30fps, sorenson3, full res. Haven't tried exporting in Animation codec.
Anyone with a similar problem? Don't if it's because I am using the new OS X Tiger, but I am not using scripts, the animation is very simple. It happens every time if I resize the quicktime movie in the render also.

I've had trouble with the qt s3 codec (not only in Moho but in editing softwares as well).
Try to untick the keyframe every... option in the codec settings, that worked for me.

As a sidenote, now Apple is converting its productline to the new Intel processors, we see why people complain so much about Windows crashing. The new Intel core-duo seems to have IIRC 34 reported bugs (and who knows how many unreported bugs). The CISC architecture of Intel as compared to the RISC architecture of IBM and Motorola CPUs comes with a heavy price, it seems.

The new Intel iMac has all kinds of bugs that might be CPU-related: mouse not recognized after a while, keys not responsive after a while, and such things. And to make matters worse: Rosetta (Apple's PowerPC emulator) has problems with all processor intensive applications, typically the Pro-apps and as I guess also Moho (although I have seen no proof of that).

I would certainly wait with an Intel switch until Apple has ironed out the bugs and Lost Marble has released an Universal binary which has proven itself to be stable. And if everything fails, you can always temporarily lease a Windows PC until everything has calmed down.

It seems bugs in chips are more common than one would expect. Programmers (especially driver programmers) are expected to work around them and wait for a (hopefully) bug fix in the next revision of the chip. It is obvious that Apple (being a smaller company) is more able to release such workarounds in their updates faster than (a really big company as) Microsoft. Also, Windows has a far broader range of hardware running the OS than Apple, so problems might be less managable for MS than for Apple. Nevertheless, at this moment there still seem to be some problems with OS X with Intel Core Duo processors.

Well, Rasheed, at present the wicked intel chip can't be responsible for the rendering problems in our G4/G5 machines...
I have a lot of rendering crashes, too, and I would blame QT7 for it, which is the least stable version of Quicktime ever. In general I prefer to render png sequences and make the lossy movies with QT pro. In case of a crash, you can restart rendering from the last rendered picture.

But I will see if the QT/s3 tip works for me.

By the way, can anybody tell me why moho always begins an img sequence with an empty file "blabla.png" and then "blabla_0001.png (and so on)"?
I always have to remove this file.

We've had certain files also crash halfway through render in OSX Tiger, regardless of the codec. Our workaround - and it has worked on several machines with varying levels of upgrades, etc. - is to render everything in the batch renderer. For some reason it never crashes, even when rendering a file that would normally crash if rendered while active...just don't have any document open during the batch.
