I see a lot of tutorials on YouTube, some authored by members in these forums, that do a really good job of screen capturing during a demonstration of software tools, such as AS. This is typically a capture of just a portion of the screen, not the entire thing.
Is there a good application for this, hopefully free, or maybe even built into something I already have?
What do people use to do this?
Thanks in advance for replies!

CineGobs Keyer is free and you can get good results. The result is as good as the background and lighting you use.
Waxinvoker is another freeware that can achieve good results.
To capture the entire person requires you to have the backdrop curve as it reaching the ground then spread across the floor so there is no seam.

wink can be a little annoying as you have to step through i think - it's not really video capture.
theres a website called screentoaster which does it all online, it's a bit buggy though, but you can choose the area being recorded... the best but not free program is camtasia.
I used camtasia for my youtube vids, but the 'intermediate stacking technique' was done on screentoaster
