ASP 8 demo without credit card?

Post by JaMike »

Hi all,

I'm Mike, this is my first post and I hope I'm not making a fool of myself!

But I can't find a link to download a demo of Anime Studio 8 PRO version. I found a link to the Debut version (but that needed a credit card - ).

Am I blind or stupid or do I have to say a magic word or something?

Thanks, and sorry for being so dumb!

You can only get their trial versions with a credit card. There was a stink made up here when version 7 was released, and eventually sm relented and made the demo available on other sites. They don't seem to have learnt their lesson, or maybe they make a lot of money from people who forget to cancel within the 30 days. Who knows. Maybe they should search Anime Studio 8 in youtube and when they see the links to cracked versions, they might realise allowing people without credit cards [children, for example] to get the trial through legitimate links without credit cards might be better than forcing them to get the dodgy copy with keygen for the pro version. They are just shooting themselves in the foot.

If you have access to a credit card, I would suggest ordering the trial, downloading it, then immediately after installing it, cancel the order. If you do decide to buy, you can always place another order, but at least if you cancel it right away, you don't have to remember to do so before the 30 days are up, if it's not for you.

I can't believe they're still doing that. If that had been the case when I first heard of AS I never would have tried it.
It's like those annoying telemarketers who want to give you FREE* socks/razors/unicorn farts
*but by accepting the free offer you sign up to a subscription that will go on unless you remember to jump through all the hoops to cancel it...

That's what I thought, thanks for confirming it.

I guess they'll eventually make it available elsewhere, like they did last time.

In this era of hacking, I am NOT giving out my credit card number unless I am actually buying something!

Just to be sure, you're not saying Smith Micro sign you up to anything that you have to cancel, are you? I think you are joking, but my paranoia forces me to check...

That's exactly what he's saying. I just effed myself and accidentally spent $200 to order AS 8 because I played with it for 10 minutes a month ago and completely forgot it existed after that. I hoping they'll be honorable humans and refund the money they just billed me.

I fully admit it was my own fault, but it still blows and I still hope for the refund. Rest assured, I shall not in the future give out the digits unless I am buying then and there.

Does anyone know exactly how this works? If I were to insert the serial # they gave me, does it register online? So that I could prove I have in fact NOT entered the serial number?

Hi guy. If anyone is interested, they went ahead allowed me to get a refund, no problem. You have to fill out a "letter of destruction" form where you enter your name, the software, etc. ,and promise that you've destroyed emails with reference to the serial number and uninstalled the software. The form mentions a 9.95 (USD) "processing fee" but the tech support email says the typically waive this.
