Adobe Dumps Flash, Pulls It From Google Play Store

Adobe has killed Flash on mobile devices completely now and Flash is almost entirely dead if not quickly becoming extinct. It looks like Adobe is ready to finally call it quits with Flash and more forward with HTML5. I guess this is one area of compatibility with AS we won't have to worry about anymore. Its funny because it was Flash that prompted me to come to Anime Studio as it was way more easier to get things done. :(

I'm not sure that Flash as an authoring environment is dead. I believe it can export to apps and the like. As a web technology its days do seem to be numbered. Sadly Adobes html5 'replacement' - Edge only seems to be available as part of their yearly subscription offering.

I wish HTML5 was a worthy replacement to Flash but I don't think it is. The biggest advantage with Flash was you could use any font you want on your system and it would render it the same on every different device. With HTML5, you have to use web fonts to be safe and there seems to be too many variables which will affect how a page looks on different devices.

However, I still occasionally animate in Flash on certain jobs so I'll still find a use for it.

Interesting. I am hearing a lot of people are still using Flash but are just wrapping their apps in Phonegap or the like.

Anyone authoring animation in HTML5? What software tools are you using?

HTML5 is more of a delivery medium rather than an animation tool. You can use just about anything to animate in and output it to a suitable bitmap format. The html 5 software can then present it and add interactivity with java script.
I've done a bit of experimentation with Gamesmaker. I duplicated a Flash animated card I had already done. It worked pretty well but playing back big bitmaps seem to be a problem especially on older machines. A very cool app, though maybe not the ideal choice for purely animated content.

here it is.

the animation was originally done in anime studio.
