Tutorials thread?

Post by daney7g »

Hi all, im an avid seeker of tutorials and im thinking about making some of my own, do you think the forum could benefit from a dedicated thread for people to post tutorials in specific category's?

Hi Daney,

I'm sorry to say that there does not seem to be any place on this forum for lateral thinkers with eclectic eye.
And please believe me i know, there can be no one more disappointed than I.

I am however interested to hear that you are a sort of collector of tutorials~ and wonder if you could point me to or highlight in some way any of those with such a lateral mind or eclectic eye

A state I believe burdened with ** Why ** : should be easy to spot , few see any ** fun ** in talking to them.

Well all i have vizzed thus far have not been properly arranged into category's due to YouTube's lack of playlist organizational power and have only covered subject matter relevant to my preliminary research into animation so as of yet i could not give an accurate assessment of the material i viewed as i'm still a novice.

As for Youtube i would like it playlist's functionality to work much like chrome/firefox bookmarks or other files systems where it's easy to move items from one folder to another. I use it for a lot of media research and so most of my playlists are more akin to brainstorms which if the functionality existed could later be sorted into more structured and useful guides for those who share the same interests and serve as good review/revision process to boot.

I wouldn't mind a beginners group here either for those of us who are beginners to share book and educational info and general support etc as we progress as animators. These are some ideas i have bouncing around in my mind for building better inner forum community participation and accessibly whilst still remaining relevant for the veteran members.

I guess ill try and contact the admins here and get to know what there thought are.

If you're looking for some more tutorials (or somewhere extra to promote yours), then please have a look at my site animestudiotutor.com, granted it's still work in progress, but the list of tutorials are growing. There are now Youtube and website links to each author to help out.

The best set of tuts that helped me out:

1. Going through the tuts in the manual 2 or 3 times or until you understand why you would do something in a certain way.
2. VTC has an online class for anime studio. << The first 10 videos or so are free, then 30 bucks a month for the site. You should be able to do all the tuts within that 1st month.

VTC helped me out tremendously, it's nice to follow a precise, professionally produced set of tutorials. I tend to learn more when watching a video, which I think, 90% of people would agree with me.

There are A LOT of tuts out there, but again, these are the ones that really set the foundation for me.

I love the idea of categorized tutorials, although I'm not sure how easy that would be to set up.

By the way, in case you haven't seen this site, you may find this helpful: http://animestudio.potentialsunleashed.com/
Forum member jhaustin has put a lot of time into compiling an exhaustive list of tutorial links and he is very receptive to suggestions. A search funtion that could allow you to find, e.g., all tutorials on masking would be a great time-saver.

I also agree that the VTC tutorials are a great way to cover all the bases or just pick the particular categories that you're interested in:

Thanks for the reply peeps, some great suggestions and nice links. I'll see what the admins say, im sure it would be useful to aggregate and network all the sites beyond this forum and vice versa.
