Advanced character animation tutorial set

Hello everyone!

I am thinking about producing a video tutorial set teaching advanced character animation, in the line of quality you can see in the Tangled series, price would be around $70 but I would probably presale for around $30.

Another way to release video tutorials I thought might be cool is through Patreon, so say that for $5 a month I could not only release video tutorials, but I could have a full fledge production blog, produce production videos, release my production files, run polls, etc.

Not only this would be an interesting way of financing high quality video tutorials, but if enough is raised I could produce 2D animated shorts full time, which is something I have been wanting to do for ages, what do you guys think of the idea?

Thanks, Gilles

Sounds great Gilles!
Those tangled characters do all the foreshortening tricks , they are very expressive.

Sound like a nice project indeed!
Personally, I'd be very interested if, as you mention, some of the production files were included (some characters?).

New to the forum and old users who don't have an overwhelming sense of deja vu might have a look at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19632

I prepaid for a series of your five years ago, never saw anything.
But I did get your Sally model tho. Maybe I'll compete against you at least mine will be released . To quote Sean William Scott " Its on like Donkey Kong.".

Ah yes , I remember that too. Of course it happens to us all. But a deal is a deal ,and renegading on a contract with your customers ? We'd be happy if all he provided us with was a single three minute video , he still would have delivered on the deal , we are all hobbyists here to enjoy ourselves after all . I'm going to upload some new stuff as the forum seems rather quiet recently. Up for some competition Giles ? I'm going to edit this with a clip in a few days .
Let's start a new topic , Disney or Fox fan art ? ( technically fox is now owned by Disney ) and we can all try to top each other with subsequent posts on the thread :  I have a stewie griffin I've been working on for some time , sadly my Tangled Rapunzel model is damaged and unloadable so I shalt be uploading that for sometime

I would be totally up for it, although probably not on a subscription based model like a patreon. If there's a lot of content i'm willing to pay 70 $ for it.

Udemy is also pretty popular for tutorial series and i've seen a lot of people using Gumroad as well for it.

Gilles's youtube channel contains some videos on animation principles. While only a small subset of the full course, it does gives you an idea of the direction the tutorials might have gone. Also, as mentioned, he did provide his fine Sally rig.

I ordered this as well, but I think he did the best he could given some very difficult health issues. Personally, I'd just as soon let it go considering Gilles's contribution to the community overall.

People seem to prefer the project-based, hands on, beginning-to-end type of approach. That said, I'd probably rethink the idea of tutorials in the first place. There's been so many good quality tuts published from the likes of mtbuck, jared hundley, guyver. etc., I really don't know what new and unique thing could be offered.

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, I'd be happy to see Gilles start posting again. :)

Ah yes , he had trouble with one of his main characters closely resembling a copyrighted character. Yes those vids of his on YouTube have been there years , they're nice .
There are some great tutorials out there no doubt one in particular , and some amazing demos - the Anime studio optimus prime blew my mind.
