How would users in the forum feel about a subscription model in Moho's future.

Many users would go elsewhere if that were the only option.

I despise subscription software and I would absolutely not buy in. I've made some money in animation but I consider myself in the "hobbyist" camp. My regular day job often causes long stretches of time when Moho doesn't get opened for weeks or even months at a time. I think the Moho users like me would be the first to bail out.

I know that I am among the most expendable Moho customers, so if they feel like they need to target the deeper pockets of the pro studios with something like a price hike or subscription packages, I'm simply priced out as a customer.

I'm confident that 13 is coming. I'm excited to see what new features are in it. I'm equally dreading the unknown possibilities of how it's going to be priced and sold.

For me, that's a deal breaker.

Yeah, since I've started relying so heavily on Moho, I've actually been considering canceling my CC subscription and seeing if I can get by with Moho and some open source image/video editing software. Bottom line, I'm not interested in another subscription!

I hate having my work held to ransom. I don't use Adobe for that reason.
It does break the covenant where the artist's work is their own, any subscription model locks your work to a payment scheme, that is not acceptable.
Imagine having to pay a rental fee for a picture you painted... Nope

I couldn’t say it BETTER!

I LOVE a lot of things about MOHO and that’s one of them!

Everyone these day wants a monthly peace of my hide! $10 for this $30 for that pretty soon you run out of money!

I quit adobe over subscription and I also have clip studio on my computer but not for my iPad BECAUSE of subscriptions!

Short answer NOOOOO!

subscription basis -- no way... I'd rather take the emotional wrench and go elsewhere.

Or just be happy with the last version I have...and keep extending it with scripting. :D

There are alternatives that can create a 'best of both worlds' scenario. Cinema 4D isn't subscription based (yet). Instead they offer short-term licenses at about the same price as a subscription price. (Well, they are 3-month licenses at about the price of 3 months of Maya.) It is a pain to have to keep up to date with buying licenses, but it enables those who need to pay in smaller increments while still allowing those who can to buy the thing outright.

I like beating a dead horse. Moho 13 is being work on. NDA keep me and others from elaborating beyond that because we would get kick of the beta team before you can blink.

Last week I presented Moho to an animation studio who thinks of adding it to their outfit of TVPaint, AfterEffect, and Adobe Animate. Nobody asked about when the next version will come out. They were interested in what the current version can do. And they were pretty impressed.
