Nested masks finally work!

Post by dragasio » Mon Apr 15, 2019 10:41 pm

I don't know if it was noticed before, but for a loong time moho did not display nested masks properly, but today I found it now does (still with GPU acceleration OFF) !
Nothing, just wanted to share this happy news with you folks!

Yeah, I think it was v11 or v12 that started displaying correctly, but only if you do all adding to the mask or all subtracting...if I remember correctly.

Also, for the display anyway, a mask will not properly mask another mask inside a nested group. But when the rendered frame looks fine I usually just ignore the display error.

But when the display error interferes with my ability to animate effectively, (or it just really bugs me,) I may move the elements from the nested group and figure out how to stack them without nesting. This may involve creating duplicate layers for masking and displaying, which can get more complicated and is probably less efficient for Moho to render...but the setup can be be worth it if it makes the rig easier to animate.

From what I remember even in version 12 they did't show properly!

For example, In the past in this image the eyelid layer (which is masked by the eye layer which in turn masked by the head layer) would be displayed outside the head layer. Now it is correctly hidden!
