Stan Vanderbeek's Science Friction (1959) is one of his cutout-films which inspired Terry Gilliam a lot. As crude as it may look today, as fresh are the ideas he uses - in fact I found some of my ideas already done by him.

(I'll try and dig up more examples of good old films, because I believe it's important to know the history of one's own art form.)

i looked at some of Vandergeeks work on
Youtube last night. There is a wonderful
video of him exploring the very first possibilities
of drawing with a computer. it reminds you of
how much we take for granted now.
