very strange but fascinating animation

This is a great film. I already saw it at the Stuttgart Animation Festival. It's perfectly executed, it has a story and an issue, it has style. And it's basically animated in 2D although there's a depth in each image rarely met by 3D productions.

Have a close look at the character animation: see how everything is composed of painted images, moved in cutout fashion with a touch of warping here and there. The head turns are especially interesting: he uses but one inbetween of a blurred face from front to side. (And I have that strange feeling that I already wrote about it ...)

This method of compositing characters of many tiny images can be found as well in the work of Yuri Norstein (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuri_Norstein), albeit he still works completely analogue. Watch some of his films and relish the atmosphere and deepness !
