Looks good!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Bones seem to have a significant lag between moving and updating the character. Not sure AS has much to worry about yet, but the fact you can interpolate FBF as well could make things interesting.

The hired developer is now working on implement a OpenGL renderer:
The code:
https://github.com/blackwarthog/synfig/ ... /rendering
The testing repository:
https://github.com/blackwarthog/lab/commits/master

It would take time to be implemented, but it will be the next big step.

I gave Synfig a try and it has a lot of promise. I really like what you guys are doing and I definitely see this program having a bright future. You guys are on the right track, but it's going to take a lot of time to polish it up. I think a small improvement that can be done in the short term is cleaning up the shortcut keys for better efficiency and reducing the tool shelf to 1 line. The tool shelf wastes a ton of room and so do the panel headers which are way too thick.

I'd also suggest defaulting the program to the dark theme which is what Flash and ToonBoom are doing.

I'd also suggest doing a crowd funding to help speed things up.
