Who knows, CACANi is getting into Japanese studios (Trigger, Tear, David, Colorido) at a healthy rate, despite only being launched in Japan for about 1 year and is often a hot topic at animation seminars and magazines due to their algorithm, the idea they were abandoning it is laughable and ignorant.

Just to add my two cents, It's been a good while since there's been much happening from the devs on the Cacani front. It's still in development I hear, from people who have gotten in touch with them. I've used it extensively and can only vouch for it. It's great for FBF type animation but with the tweakability of digital animation. It needs optimising still but is very competent at doing the cleanup and tweening stage once you learn how it works; you'll get full control of tweens and breakdowns and it turns hand drawn animation into something one hell of a lot faster. I'd leave colouring for other programs and let it do its thing, which is tweening linework and detail.
