I have tried to join 3D backgrounds made with Vue 3.1 to 2D characters (or near background)...

(Use the link above !)

It's difficult to draw (and to animate) characters... BUT backgrounds too !!!
You know... with 3D backgrounds you can move around your scene for another angles without drawing all again !
Then I put the 3D picture in a layer and I animate the characters in the others.

Tip for The-TAB users :
For a 320 x 240 drawing area size, don't use 320 x 240 pictures but (at least) 1024 x 768 pictures (rescaled in TAB) or you will lose a lot of quality !!!

hmm i was looking at this software and there is no talk of adding 3d objects.

are you just using render out images of your backgrounds and putting them on layers?

this Tab looks very close to toonboom

Yes... As I said it's a .jpg picture made in Vue and imported in TAB.

I can compare with Toonboom because I never could do anything with Toonboom.

Look at their fantastic movieclip to see how Tab works...

Tab 3 have a new Z axis option... and the possibility to group your different forms.

I try to test the-tab 3 in my G4 (mac)... it is a good software (I like very much the drawing tools, the pump tool is my favorite) but it is a little buggy...
The browser tab is unusable (very slow) the inbetween future not work's fine and a a lot of little (but tedius) other things.
you know if this is a beta version?
I have written to the tab with some questions, but it has only answered me on how much cost:
Pro version € 618 (plus VAT, in Italy is 20%)
Standard € 272 (plus VAT, in Italy is 20%)
Wow... I don't creed I will buy it

$5xx us plus a wacom tablet for the pro 2.x, wierd that don't list a price without the wacom

you know you can import images into anime studio too

i see that it has more option for sound, AS needs more option in that area

is the drawing pixel based ( verses vector lines ) there is another software that deals with pixel based animation, mirage but the tool and interface is so scarie that on that issue alone i didn't get into it.

Yes, but if you see on the 2.2 store the price is discounted, the original price is $ 895 (same for the non wacom version).
$ 895 = € 619,53
I like The Tab, I am italian and I am happy to see an italian software like The Tab but... for me it is overpriced.
I have dowloaded also the 2.2 version and it is much faster and usable.
I hope that the version they will sell is not therefore buggy, because software with high cost and with bugs is the faster way for ruined theirs market.

You're right. There are bugs in the 3.0 version...
I have made tests for them with this new version. I think it's why we can't buy it.
The actual 2.2 version is very good ! Today it's better to work with it.
The 3.0 will have some options you see they are necessary when you work with The-TAB 2.2 (standard or pro).

It's difficult to compare TAB and AS because they work on a different way. It depends on your project ! Sometimes I use AS sometimes I use TAB...

Yes... the pump tool is wonderful !!! And you don't have to close a shape to fill it but an area... like in... Paint, for example !!!
