El Monstero: The Monster Caught At Riverport Ad

Post by drumlug13 »

I've got some friends that put on a Pink Floyd tribute concert that has just grown to insane proportions. They're playing at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater this Saturday (about 20,000 seats) I made this ad for them with AS7.

Whoa. How did you do the unfurling banner at the beginning?

It's built with the image and banner inside a bone layer. I added about 80 bones in a grid pattern (pointing down). I used lots of extra points in the banner artwork itself. I have bone strength turned on just barely. Then I animated "Scale Bones" with each of the bones. I have bone dynamics turned on and you just have to keep tinkering with it til it looks like a big piece of cloth.

I'm going to mess with that one a little more to try to get it to drop a little better. You can see that the Image, Circle and Banner to fall at a little different rate. It would probably look better if the Image of the Pig was reconstructed as vector art, but that would take forever

Ha! Yeah I guess if you're not from St. Louis you wouldn't get the whole pig thing. There's a local radio station, K-SHE 95, it adopted a pig character called Sweet Meat as it's mascot back in the 70's. This was a blend of that and Pink Floyd's own pig imagery with a river twist. I also dropped an Albert Pujols jersey in the bottom of the river because he made me sad.

You have to smile watching it. I know a lot of people have seen this promotional animation. (Maybe Pujols will see it too.)

If he decided to take in a concert in the Midwest on his All Star break (since he didn't make the team this year) there's a slim chance he could have come across it. Live Nation has been playing it on their big screens before concerts these last few weeks. Still it's a whole lot like a little fly calling a great big bull a jerk. (Not that I'm bitter :x or anything)

It appears Live Nation has given the little fly a megaphone. His batting average has come down somewhat. There's a good chance he talks to his old teamates. :)

Ha! Yeah, usually some of the Cards would stop in the shows that run in the off season around Christmas time. If you're bored check out the local news on the show. I couldn't possibly be more proud of these guys. It's gonna be a cool show tonight :D
