MOOSEBOX

Hey guys,

Long time!

I made a short with Nickelodeon. It's called 'MOOSEBOX'.

Lightboxes and pencil animation, Photoshop, (other pixel artists used a range of other pixel / animation apps), Anime Studio (pretty much used as a sequencer for frames animated in Photoshop, some squash-and-stretch use too) , Premiere, some other program / specialised machine for colour grade. For audio my bro used Logic, often with a plug-in called YMCK's 'Magical 8-bit Plug-in' (primitive wave sounds with some midi controls), voices were recorded in an LA studio, we patched in from Cape Town. Audio Engineer mastered in Pro Tools.

Anyways, I'm really pleased with it, hope you like it! :)

This is great from start to finish. When the moose pops out and sticks his tongue out at the bad guy, I genuinely laughed out loud. Really extremely well done!

Thanks Danimal and KenW :)

Yes, Moose's tongue 'Alolololololo' seems to get a laugh at that point.

It's a less offensive version of Wren and Stimpy for the 21st century. It also harkens back to Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I like it. :)

I had to come up with a new word. That was just "virally" good. Every aspect of it was...good! I want to ask where your ideas come from but the short answer is probably "from your imagination". Do you plan anything else with those characters?

Thanks for the replies Lukas and 3deeguy :)

3deeguy > Ideas. Where do they come from? I don't know. I have a bunch of stuff in the back of my mind that I've always wanted to do in animation and every now and then an abstract idea is formalised and a couple other ideas bunch onto that. I remember being kind of relaxed when conceiving MooseBox. Here's the back of a receipt I drew on in a coffee shop to explain to a buddy the idea I had decided to pitch:
