Extra lighting
Hi, this is an interesting technique i just discovered.
We all know that with the layer blending mode Screen we can make very nice lighting effects and also we can use Add for a stronger effect.
Well, there is another way to get a better and extra lighting, also there is no need of extra layers.
1.What you have to do is to select Add for the layer blending mode of the layer where we have the shapes that will simulate the lighting, these ones are normally white or near to white.
2.Then here is the trick:
Inside that same layer make a shape totally black and place it at the bottom of the order of the shapes, Shift+arrow down.
Make sure the black shape is big enough so the other shapes can fit inside this one.
Dont worry for the form of the shape because the black color with Add applied just doesnt show .
Render and you will see the result:

Also i will be working on a video tutorial on how to make skys like this one very soon .

Glad you like them.fracturedray wrote:Very cool, good find Parker. I've been seeing your other work as well lots of skill and talent.
I have been trying to push the software to its limits and i would like to keep sharing my works with you and the rest of the forum.
Many people didnt believe that it would be possible to make nice cartoon backgrounds on AS and i did, the same with the comic painting and again i think i proved that not only it can be done with Photoshop.
Im going to take things even farther and will try to do something that even photoshop and illustrator users sturggle to make in those softwares.
