Paranorman dialogue and Smart Bones
Somedays ago I saw this Paranorman's dialogue tests and I really loved it:
https://vimeo.com/48783829
here is a very poor gif version of the video:
It looked so much better than lipsync made with switches, It made me think about how you could emulate this animation using smart bones. I traced a character and created some smart bones. Of course I'm not as good animator as the one who made this tests, but the rig construction took me around three hours and it's incredible flexible and easy to use:
The animation is 24fps, but the mouth is animated in intervals of 3's and the eyes are on 2's.
Here you can check the file

This test was made without any planning, but now I'm thinking about which smart bones targets would be necessary to get as much freedom as possible using as few bones as possible. If anyone have an idea, please don't hesitate write it.

Those mouths are so expressive, I can see why you would get inspired!
Would be interesting to introduce some more 'flesh' at extremes, on the examples you see cheeks collect as the mouths go really high up. I also love the way most of the mouths are sort of angled and off center... I'll look at your file and play a bit soon as I can and see if I come up with any new ideas
Thanks for the inspiration Selgin!

Excellent, and thought-provoking, as always!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Hi Victor
I am trying your mouth rig. When I manipulate my character's mouth with smart bones, I can not transform the mouth points later on the mainline. The points are jumping all around when I transform them (even click on them) after I rotate the smart bones. However in your head rig, I can easily transform the points after rotating the smart bones. How did you do that?
