I have not tried frame by frame animation before so I thought I would try it.
I was wondering how some of you approach frame by frame in AS.
I tried to use one layer and manipulate the points but ran into problems if I had to add a point or delete one. So I ended up drawing the 1st frame and duplicated it 11x and tweaked all 12 frames at frame 0 then used switch layers on 1-3-5-etc.
I also have problems with the feet slipping but I found a tutorial by Mike Kelly that showed him placing a small circle at the heels of the feet and then uses translate bone to move the character laterally. This seems to work but is very slow. Is there a faster way to make a walk cycle without having the feet slip?
Thanks
Stephen

I guess I wasn't clear on this post.
What I want to know is how you can make a walk cycle in an action w/o the feet slipping when you want to import that action at a different layer translation?
For example, I make a walk cycle in an action at distant X using frame by frame to adjust the bone translation for feet slippage. Then I import that into the mainline but I decide that I need the walk to go farther. When I do this the feet slip again.
I guess my main question is this, Is there any way to make an adjustable walk cycle in actions where you can import that action at a layer translate determined by the mainline?

hi sbtamu,
I had this issue as well and solved it by adding red squares to line up the feet.

the method
made the walk cycle action.
moved the character to the starting point and made a square located at the back of the heel of the forward foot. Moved forward a few frames adjusted the character to keep the heel lined up continued this until the other leg had the heel begin touching the ground and made a red square for that step.
After that I copied the squares and moved them about equal distance and continued to tweak each step in the animation.
The draw back is you down't want to move the boxes in the animation. Only move them in the first frame. So turning on onion screen helps line the boxes with the heel.
Took a while to do this but simply sliding the character from one side to the other looked sloppy.
Good Luck
