Vehicle Turn Using Smart Bones

Post by drumlug13 »

Meet Woody, Harry Trigger's trusty steed.

I used a smart bone to make the turn from profile to front. It's got a little bounce in the layers but I think it comes across with a bit more of a hand drawn effect to it. I guess I need to go ahead and make a back view so it can turn a full 360. I could've sworn that Smart Bones could animate layer ordering, but I was having issues with it. It would be a lot easier to turn the car all the way around if it did though.

SMart bones can't influence layer order (yet) even though it looks like it does. Use Zdepth instead.

Very nice. Makes me think of Cruella DeVille's car.

That works very well, especially moving around the 3/4 view. Impressive.

Try tiny (imperceptible) Zdepth values, 0.001 order of magnitude
(I can't take credit for this tip, it's all Chucky)

Nice, the car depth seemed a bit variable but i thought it look really good. :)

Thanks Gents...

Daney ... THANK YOU!!! I meant to mention that. In the Smart Bones Action, I had corrected that by squash/stretching with the Transform Tool. But apparently that doesn't translate to the mainline. Of course I didn't catch that until it was uploaded. I need to go back into the Action and re-size everything with the scale points tool.
