New Animated Series! (First Post)
Hey guys (and girls)!
I have been lurking this board for months, finding answers to my questions and inspiration for fun projects! I recently started putting together an animated series for YouTube. It will likely be a while before I have anything substantial to share, but I have completed the title sequence.
I've posted it to YouTube and would love your feedback on the beginning stages of the project. All animation was done in AS Pro 8, and all splicing was done in Final Cut Pro. Thanks in advance for your feedback!

(I'm not sure how to embed a video, so I've just copied and pasted the URL)
Thanks!
Andrew

Nice. Was the textured background done in AS or FCP?

Thanks! The textured background is one of the effect filters from Final Cut. I think it's called "Aged Paper." I toned it down so that the colors of the animation could come through. The actual colors I used in Anime Studio are quite vibrant.neeters_guy wrote:Nice. Was the textured background done in AS or FCP?
I haven't decided yet if I'll apply the effect to more than just the title sequence. It may get old fast, or it could give the project a nice feel. Thoughts?

My personal taste demands that overall textures should not be used over a moving background. I recommend to experiment with textures and masks in AS a bit, the result is just as good, and the textures can be linked to the elements so they move with them, which is a favourite of mine.
AS 9.5 MacPro Quadcore 3GHz 16GB OS 10.6.8 Quicktime 7.6.6
AS 11 MacPro 12core 3GHz 32GB OS 10.11 Quicktime 10.7.3
Moho 13.5 iMac Quadcore 2,9GHz 16GB OS 10.15
Moho 14.1 Mac Mini Plus OS 13.5

Someone recently explained embedding to me. You enclose the video 'ID' between the 'youtube' brackets. In your url that means everything after the '=' sign. If you've done it correctly it'll show up in the preview.
Cheers, Larry

Nice style and a cool video to watch. Who did the music? I would like to know to make sure I never buy anything by them ever.
Good animation though!

This has great atmosphere and music. I agree with slowtiger that the texture moving over the scene doesn't work as well as if the textures were fixed to the objects. At first I thought there was some kind of oil on my screen. When the camera is still with the sun background it looks awesome, like it is cut out of paper. I think that would be a great style to pursue. If the title sequence reflects the mood of the story, I think textured backgrounds and muted coloring could work nicely.

I like the animation, textured look and muted colours. The music sounded great to me too Great work.

I really liked this video, and I agree with you. But it can be tricky.slowtiger wrote:My personal taste demands that overall textures should not be used over a moving background. In my last video I had images and textures and they did all kinds of crazy things once I introduced any camera movement. So bad, that I finally removed all camera movements in AS, and rendered the shots in 2K, then added the camera work back in Adobe Premiere.
Just a caveat to the original poster, that's all.
