Foreshortening walk cycles etc

Post by woody173@live.co.uk »

Hi I am trying to create my walk cycles for my back and front positions. to get it to look more natural and not like a gorilla walking I need to know how to foreshorten the limbs when he walks. Does anyone know the best way to achieve this. I cant find any tutorials anywhere and Im stumped. I also need to know if i can change the layering so in one instance the arm is in fornt and then behind if necessary.

If someone can point me to a tutorial that would be brilliant

I would have thought AS would have had some way have doing this

There are several ways to achieve foreshortening. You can scale bones, use smart bones, or use switches. If you post a sketch it would be easier to suggest a specific method.

As for moving arm layers, you can animate layer ordering by going to the layer settings of top level bone layer. In the General tab, enable "Allow animated layer effects" and in the Depth Sort tab, check "Enable animated layer ordering".

There's are a few forum threads on the subject of front walks so it's best to do a search. For what it's worth, here are a couple that I've posted on:
