I have just managed to successfully import some transparent Quicktime movie files (Anime Studio Pro animations) with character animations in to the Cinema 4D scene file without any problems, and even into the right perspective and stuff. And I have even managed to animate the animations within a new C4D animation I am rendering right now! I'll definitely post it as soon as it is ready. But this seems to be a revelation! I can now do some sick shit in 3D!! Damn! I am so f#ck*ing happy right now!! :D

Imagine shit like driving your animated character in a car trough a 3D scene, in that same scene there are other animations projected on plane objects of other characters. Man this is awesome!!!!!!

I mean, in this way you can literally do shit like Futurama and the newer Simpson episodes where the 3D enviroment is just way to sweet.

Sorry I can't stop smiling! I'll open a beer and drink it, and hell what, I'll consume some herbal greens from Groningen, all wrapped up and rolled into a blunt (ready to toke and smoke) to that!!

EDIT: Did you know Matt Groening (The Simpsons and Futurama) his family name comes from the ancient Dutch city of Groningen? (the city where I live, and where the cartoon is taking place?)

Today I worked on adding more details to the environments. For example Martin's bedroom. I've added some extra 3D objects (shoes on the floor, guitar on a stand, a football fan scarf on the doorknob, a TV, etc.) into the scene that I will use as a background. Here an example:

The fbx export sucks. It exports all the layers as shapes, not in a flat. but each layer is sightly farther away from the last. Making it no good with a 3D camera in Unity. The best method to work with unity is sprite sheets. But you have to get a Sprite Sheet converter that doesn't down size your sequence images.

Smith micro should have made an exporter from AS to poser. I have tried but never could get it to work.

You would think that SmithMicro being the umbrella of the product that they would have work harder to be complementary of each other?!?!?

On the 3D vs 2D and combination of both. My thought on this, and I haven't got that far yet, but its also possible to add a 2D drawing onto a 3D object in a 3D program and use that for your 3D background.

Switch to C4D would be my advise, you can setup a pipeline in both ways. From ASP to C4D and vice versa...

A short screenshot from some test scene I am working on:

This is a screenshot of Martin Martini in his car. I am rendering out the animation, so that will take some time. But this is a screenshot of what is to come:

I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I like Lord Cyber Snort (great name, by the way!) a lot more than the carefully-drawn characters you have shown so far. He looks like he'd be fun to animate too. Maybe a Halloween special?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
