Anime Studio in Song of the Sea

Post by amanandink »

Hi All

the Song of the Sea trailer is out and I though I would post it here for some of the Anime Studio work we did that is in the trailer.
http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/inde ... gofthesea/

some of the main ones are
43 seconds in is one of four scenes we made entirely in ASP,
59 seconds we did the car in ASP
1min 35 we did the storm cloud over the house in ASP

I hope you enjoy it

Gorgeous work as always. I'm very much looking forward to seeing this film. Secret of Kells is one of my favourites.

Beautiful.
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Um... that movies looks awesome.

I may have just found my New Years Eve movie. (yes I spend New Year's Eve at the theater)

Did you personally work on this movie?

It's fantastic what you all have done. I'm avid to watch the entire movie.
Is there any chance to know how it was made?
I'm very interested about how AS is used in this kind of huge beautiful projects.

PD: Don't you need another AS animator there? :roll:

Thanks guys for all the great comments, it certainly means alot. Its scheduled for release in North America on December 19th, I'm not sure about what cities or when it will be in other countries.

@Pinesal
Yes I worked on it, there was in fact 4 anime studio animators, including myself and 2 traditional efx animators in my team over the 12 month production period.

@Selgin
I actually suggested the other day to Jason, a beta users demo of different production methods, I would be interesting to see everyone's production techniques. and yes we are always looking for talented ASP animators/riggers, we are actually in the last few months of a tv series at the moment, 39x7 mins all in ASP, and season 2 of the series will be starting in early 2015.

I can't say how much I love this! It's so visually unique and so beautiful! Sometimes you watch animation that is so good you forget that it is animation and you're just enjoying so much you're not thinking about anything else. This is the type of animation I love the most! So good!!!!!!!!!
Practice random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty! Pause, consider, do! I dare you!

That looks terrific, with some very nice animation and design.

Great to know that Anime Studio is being used for a series. I'd also be very interested in working on that.

I thought Secret of the Kells was fantastic! This looks to be even better. How does one get involved in such projects with your group?

Guys, I saw a screening of Song of the Sea over the weekend and it's fantastic! I liked spotting the parts that used Anime Studio, but aside from that it's a beautiful movie with a great story and wonderful animation all around. I highly recommend it. Great job, everybody at Cartoon Saloon!

Won't it be cool to say "One of the animators is a member of our forum!" :D
