Blob Mod
Imagine the blob brush if you could have sharp corners and straight edges.
I think that would be a very cool mod and make for some really fast and spontaneous backgrounds.
Of course the default preset would need heavily reduced point and no soothing- well that would be the point eh?
It would work great with masks and be soooo much quicker and spontaneous than point to point drawing.
This was drawn in clip studio using the same idea with CSP's vector tools, of course it only exports raster.

Re: Blob Mod
Thumbs up here on that! Custom shapes would be nice too.

Good Idea!chucky wrote:Imagine the blob brush if you could have sharp corners and straight edges.
? you mean like scatterbrush but "just one big one" / an extension to the "draw shape" tool?DK wrote:...Custom shapes would be nice too...D.K
Re: Blob Mod
yes....similar to paint shop pro where it allows you to create custom blob brushes. Sometimes you need a sharp edge like Chucky suggests rather than a smooth round edge. If you could create other shapes to use you could get all kinds of interesting effects.

Re: Blob Mod
ah - brush shapes ... yes ... interesting ... whirr .whirr
Re: Blob Mod
Brush shapes.... yes I held off on mentioning that, I'm worried about excessive points, however, I do wonder about a stamp blob that paints a vector shape with the shape of an image texture.
Of course his would be possible, but Moho is so far behind in drawing tools... how can we expect that when blob barely works in it's basic form?
I guess if a script mod demonstrated that, we could show it off ar some of the facebook pages and make a request, it might pique dev's interest.
I think the straight edge would be more useful for now....

Re: Blob Mod
I don't know about doing straight edge, other than peaked points or constraining to an axis, but I did test different "brushes." I just swapped the circle brush for the square and diamond graphics markers that already exist in the Moho API, but like Chucky said, those create a lot more points.

Peaked points would be perfect l think if the point reduction is quite high.synthsin75 wrote:I don't know about doing straight edge, other than peaked points or constraining to an axis, but I did test different "brushes." I tried changing some values in the blob script to 0, hoping it might do something , but I just don't know what I'm doing and no matter it just keeps getting smoothed out after stroke.

Re: Blob Mod
Chucky, does just peaking all the blob points give the desired result? That'd be dead simple.

Re: Blob Mod
Yeah... probably . The more minimal points the better.

Re: Blob Mod
Wow Wes! Yes!
That's exactly it!
SO much better for drawing so many things !
Thanks so much.
If only the damn blob didn't have that basic underlying flaw changes ( melts) the shapes that have already been drawn.
That's the big problem with the blob brush overall, isn't it?
It has so much potential, imagine a slider that had two settings max and min to set the range when the brush would peak.
You could draw long elegant curves that snap sharply on points and corners.
Maybe a modifier key that would regulate peak to curve?
Anyway thanks so much.
This is great for drawing so much stuff, mountains, trees, bg buildings and just a cooler looking shape than the regular blob.
So, back to the issue that the basic tool has of losing fidelity.
Is this due to a process of rasterisation and vectorisation churning in the background?
Why does the shape continuously spread and lose shape... can we call it Melting? or something ?
Why does it Melt?

Re: Blob Mod
Wes.....that mod is fantastic! Makes the blob brush a ton more useful than it was before.
Thank you!

Re: Blob Mod
Whoa, I didn't expect that to do the trick.
This seems to fix the "melting", at the cost of less point reduction (but it still looks like a fair trade off to me):

If enough people like this, I'll see about making peaked and the no-melt simplification tool options instead of hard-coded (like they are now).

Re: Blob Mod
First thing I created with it was a mountainous horizon in seconds. Could never do things like that with the old blob brush. I struggle to make simple clouds with it as the drift would cause the initial stamped points to go out of shape and you ended up with wonky circles and a wonky cloud, (well most clouds are wonky but you get the point). This sharp edge brush is waaaay more useful. I will be using it all the time now.
Thanks again Wes for the script and Chucky for the idea.
