Ok. Installed 12.4 and tried to update to 12.5 and I get an error message.
"An error occurred in retrieving update information. Are you connected
to the internet? Please try again later".
Of course I am connected to the internet. This seems familiar and may be
the reason i didn't upgrade fro 12.2.
Any ideas?

Cheers

Hmm...not sure I've seen that.

I supposed you could just download the demo installer directly. Since you already have the license installed, I think it should automatically be activated. Maybe somebody here can confirm that?

Due to a computer issue, I just had to go the 12.4 to update route too. Worked fine here. Installing the trial would work, but I assume SM no longer offers the v12 trial. Hopefully trying to update again latter will eventually work. Maybe try entering your serial number here: http://station.smithmicro.com/moho-pro-updates.html

Oh, yeah, of course they don't. Never mind.

@D.K., Earlier, I think I mentioned going into a personal account to manage the license. I just looked at mine and unfortunately the page doesn't appear to have the functionality it once had and it's probably not going to help.

If I think of anything else you can try, will post here.

Hi Greenlaw.
No probs and thanks for the great help you always offer.
All the people who have 12.5 installed should be feeling pretty special right now ;)

Shoot! Now I'm seeing that error.

So I had to rebuild my workstation computer and reinstall Windows 10, and now I'm re-installing Moho 12. The latest installer I have is 12.4, so I installed that and tried to update to 12.5 with the built-in updater. Sadly, I'm seeing the same 'Are you sure you're connected to the internet?' error you got.

I found a download link for 12.5 on the SM site but it just led me to the Moho 13 download page. Then I tried earlier installers I had but seeing the 'internet connection' error with those too.

I still have 12.5 on my laptop but I really need it running on my workstation too. Very frustrating.

I wonder if the issue is on their server end?

Yeah it's a pain!
Hope you get it back and working again. I was pretty happy with 12.2 to be honest but I'm dreading the day when Moho will stop connecting to SM completely and the software just works in demo mode :(

Yes, I hope a Smith Micro representative can pop in and respond to Moho users with some kind of assurance. I'm obviously a big fan of the software and I'd like to keep using it.

You're Dreamworks' Lead Digital Animator. Such specialists are difficult to find. I just started learning Moho and also want to work in the studio. There are many lessons on the Web, but they are scattered. Why don't you make a course by Moho - from character creation, rigging, animation and render? So that we can also become specialists in large studios like Drimworks (English also knows poorly).

Hi Kimsan,

Funny you should ask... :)

Some of my co-workers have requested videos on specific advanced techniques and I'm writing those now. I've also been planning a series of practical workflow videos for drawing, rigging and animation in Moho, as well as tips and tricks videos. I'll post more info when I'm ready to release them.

Thank you for your interest!

Tip:

I compiled MQC as an .exe so users wouldn't have to install AutoHotKey (AHK) if they didn't want to. This seemed like a good idea but last week, due to a change in policy, I found I was no longer able to run the .exe version of MQC on my computer at work.

To work around this issue, I simply made a shortcut for the uncompiled version of the script, which is included in the MQC package, and launching this version instead runs fine on my work computer. The trick, of course, is that I was allowed to have AHK installed on this computer.

You can get AHK from here: https://www.autohotkey.com/. AHK is free, btw, but please donate to support it if you can.

AFAIK, the only real 'downside' to running the uncompiled script version is that you lose the cool icon I created for the .exe version.* :)

I hope this info helps anybody who hasn't been able to run the .exe version on their Windows computer.

*Just for kicks, I googled for info about giving an AHK script a unique icon. FYI, you can apparently do this. It's too much trouble for me to do right now, but I thought to mention it in case somebody wanted the original icon. (The icon is also in the package.)

In case anybody is wondering, we're re-branding this video series.

Little Green Dog Explains is the new name, and, yes, brand new videos are in the works!

So what's coming? Our next few videos will cover topics to help beginning Moho Pro and Debut users get started, and then we'll get into the 'off-the-manual' tips and tricks I've described elsewhere in these forums. Later, I might even take requests, so stay tuned! :)
