So are these bones that are affected by physics? I can imagine you could rig clothing, like a cloak, so that it has gravity and will sway realistically as a character moves.

final piece of stating the blindingly obvious -- those are old Mac OS versions, so if she's anywhere near up to date it might not work for her ... yeah only £3 wasted but ...

Moho 12.5 already does that much. As a matter of fact, when you apply bone dynamics to an entire skeleton, Moho has rag-doll physics. (So many unfortunate Moho characters have been pushed down stairs thanks to this feature.)

What we see in the posted image must be something new.

I think that this Moho 13.5 will pass a real new course with, as said above, the physical management of the wind, and bones to simulate the 3D (well that's what I suppose from the sight of the images, or else I don't see what this new bone could be used for).
I think my idea of a real time bone switch has been heard, and I'm pretty much 100% sure that this new bone in red is made to animate a whole chain of bones, from one position to their totally opposite positions to simulate a 3D rotation, but I could be wrong.
But if that's the case, all that's missing is a good joint manager (there is, but it's not great, especially for vector), and we can do easily some awesome things.
In any case, if the 2.5D part is finally managed in Moho, it will put an end to years and years of R&D with complicated constructions for me.

I think she's got an old Mac laptop lying around somewhere, so she still might be alright. But thanks for keeping your eyes peeled (and sharing the information, of course)!
