understanding the timeline

Post by p8guitar »

In this project the legs and feet are moving slighly inwards when I go from frame 0 to frame 1. I wonder why this is - I see no bone keyframes, and I deleted any animation with animation-clear animation-from document. can someone be so kind to help me find out why? :?

Both legs are moving to reach their target bones.

I never noticed that target bones have no effect on frame zero. Not sure why this should be useful, for me it's more confusing. But apparently this is the behaviour of the bones, so I better take notice... ;-)

In general, no bone constraints are active on frame zero. You can only test them on frame zero with the manipulate bone tool.

When I'm rigging and testing, I like to use the Design Mode command. With Design Mode, I can jump between frame 0 and my test frame (usually frame 24) by toggling this command. To use Design Mode, go to the frame you want to use as your test frame, then press Ctrl+Shift+D. This sends you to frame 0, where you can make adjustments to your rig. Then, press Ctrl+Shift+D, and Moho will return you to your test frame.

To make is easier for me to use, I included this command in my MQC panel, which I updated for Moho 13.5. For more info about that, go here:

As Wes noted, you can test IK and Target Bones in frame 0 using the Manipulate Bone tool. But sometimes this method doesn't work as expected, so switching between 0 and a test frame using Design Mode is a more accurate way to test your rig.

Hope this helps.
