I saw this on some discord, so I thought I'd share. Don't know how true it is..
"If you have a windows machine, and use Dropbox, make sure you don't host your dropbox folder on your C:\ along with your main windows folder. Dropbox has a cache folder that will corrupt any windows restore point. I installed a windows update, got into a boot loop, and was unable to restore. Had to do a clean windows install. Apparently this is a known 3+ year bug between Dropbox and Windows. :/ I moved my dropbox folder onto another drive and disabled that drive from windows' backup. "

You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
Re: Dropbox information
That's concerning. I'll have to look into that.
FWIW, I had to run a Windows restore a few weeks ago and it worked fine, and my Dropbox is installed on my main drive.
(Let me check on that to be sure; most of my User profile stuff is actually on another drive.)

Re: Dropbox information
Kinda hope it's not true, really -- it's quite a major bug if it is...

Re: Dropbox information
Ok, from what I can tell, the Dropbox client is running from my C drive but all my Dropbox content (the files that are local anyway,) are served from my D drive because my user folder was re-located there. Not sure that makes any difference.
But for what it's worth, I've been using Dropbox for almost as long as it's been around, across several different computers and mobile devices, and haven't seen this problem (yet.)

Re: Dropbox information
That's good. Hope it didn't spook you too much!

Re: Dropbox information
Nah, it just gave me a pause, long enough to check other sources. Mainly some old news (2012), and some questionable sources (Reddit). Always good to be aware of potential problems so keeping an eye on it.
