Cannot render video - Reference layer?

I spent all day creating a Moho project in which my main character is a reference layer to an external project. Now I cannot Export Animation. The CPU bars just twinkle but never progress. I can export animation for the source of the reference just fine. Restarted Moho, same. Rebooted PC, same. Copied project and broke the reference. This also does not render.

Just tell it to me straight - This is my first time using reference layers to external projects and I'm having one problem after another. (See my previous post about jittery SMD's, for one example). And now that I've finally gotten something finished, it won't render. I'm tempted to forget about using reference layers at all. Is it another known buggy thing? I'm also thinking it's got nothing to do with reference layers because the broken reference project also doesn't render.

There shouldn't be a problem with rendering a project that has a reference, but I'm not sure I've tried that in 13.5.5. It's always worked fine in earlier releases for me and I used it all the time in Moho 12.5. I'll give it a try tonight and see how it goes.

TBH, I suspect it's something else about the project file. Have you checked for negative keyframes? That can cause weird problems, notably slow performance, excessive processing, and potential crashing. You can check for that and fix the error if present by using the tool from here....

I believe this project is corrupt somehow. I broke the layer reference, and then began removing elements one by one until it would finally render. Basically everything had to be removed though. Here is the project, media gathered and zipped. Can someone please take a look at it?

Ok, at least we can scratch that off the list. The negative keyframes problem actually happens rarely these days but it's what I suspect first when I see sudden unexplained slow performance and crashing.

I'll try to look later tonight and let you know if I find anything.

Thanks, I finally copied a new instance of the reference character into the project then manually copy pasted the animation layer by layer. That got me past the roadblock at least, but I would like to know what happened.
