MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
Hi guys,
I tried to install Moho on my laptop but I got the error message 'MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!' I updated the OS to the latest version and installed the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads https://learn.microsoft.com/en-GB/cpp/w ... w=msvc-170 (a tip I found here). But nothing helped. I still get the same error message
I also checked the SysWOW64 file ... msvcr100.dll is there!
I also uninstalled and reinstalled Moho ... no success!
Can anybody help?
PS: I assume, it's legal to have Moho on more than one device!?

last question first: yes as long as you treat them "like sharing a book" IOW only one active at a time.
back to msvcr ... I have moho 13.5.5. win10 64 bit ...
the .dll I have in syswow64 is signed by microsoft on 11 June 2011 09:50:38 and has read and read & execute privileges for all apps. might be worth checking those to make sure you have the right .dll and that moho can actually run it.

MSVCR100.dll is a Microsoft file, so it sounds like your Windows system is either missing that file or that file has gotten corrupted somehow, making it impossible for Moho to access. You can try this.
Go to this Microsoft webpage
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/hel ... downloads
Scroll down to the "Visual Studio 2010 (VC++ 10.0) SP1" section and download the installer as well as the security update from that section. Run both of those files (first the installer, and once that's done, the security update).
You may need to restart your computer for it to take full effect.

That is easy to fix, maybe you are installing Moho 13.5 on Windows 8. I had this happen on my laptop, you just need to update your windows 8, that is, check for all updates and it will be solved.
And one thing on your website requirements says Windows 10, maybe that's it too.
Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
Moho's license allows one to activate it on up to three devices. For example, I have one license activated on my desktop computer at home and on my laptop for when I'm away from home, and that's perfectly legal. But this still means it can be used on only one computer at a time.Hugging_Bear wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 2:22 pm PS: I assume, it's legal to have Moho on more than one device!?
Re: the error...I saw that error or something very similar to it while trying to run a different program a long time ago. Back then, I just copied the file from another computer running the same operating system and the program worked fine after that.

there are three security update files:
vcredist_x86.exe
8.6 MB
vcredist_ia64.exe
2.9 MB
vcredist_x64.exe
9.8 MB
Since my OS runs on 64bit only the second and last are in question. Which shall I install?
Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
vcredist_x64.exe is the standard Windows 64 bit exe.Hugging_Bear wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 6:20 pm ...

Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
I have the same issue. I just reinstalled Windows 11, it is up to date, has all the necessary dll:s and it should work, but Moho won't open. Did you find any solution to this?
Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
i had the same problem. today I solved it.Hugging_Bear wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 2:22 pm Hi guys,
I tried to install Moho on my laptop but I got the error message 'MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!'
Can anybody help?
I googled and found instructions

I downloaded two files msvcr100.dll
https://www.sts-tutorial.com/download/msvcr100
copied them to folders
C:/Windows/SysWOW64/
C:/Windows/System32/
restarted the computer and Moho worked!
before i find a solution on youtube,
I went to this forum and did not find a solution here,
so I decided to post a solution that helped me!
good luck!
Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
Updating this in case someone is still trying to solve this.
I got it working by copying the .dll from a Windows 10 machine that I had. Windows 11 didn't work with Moho without copying the Windows 10 .dll.
I'm guessing this is a file that doesn't get removed if you upgrade from Win 10 to 11 but isn't a part of Win 11 and won't be installed on a native Win 11 system. That would explain why it works for so many people out of the box.

Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
Win 11 doesn't come with that file, correct. And related to that, Moho 14 doesn't need MSVCR100.dll, so in theory you shouldn't ever get this message when using Moho 14. But for older versions of Moho on Win 11, you'll need to install that MSVCR100.dll. I'd recommend installing it directly from Microsoft (using Victor's instructions above) if you can't or don't want to copy it from your old Win 10 computer. I wouldn't trust downloading it from some third party.
Re: MSVCR100.dll couldn't be found!
Ok, at the time I had the problem, I was still on Moho 13. I'm super glad to hear it was fixed in 14, thanks for the update!Belgarath wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 2:06 am Win 11 doesn't come with that file, correct.
