Capped ends on strokes... round brush.

Post by heyvern »

I searched the forum and found nothing on this...

I was getting a tad annoyed at the lack of a round capped end on strokes.

So I created a perfectly round brush. Just a black circle. Through trial and error I adjusted the size of the brush until it matches the width of strokes.

Not only does this work with capped ends it also works with creating nicely rounded corners. The strokes look fantastic and work perfectly with my project.

The only trouble is that I must use a very low spacing value... like 5 or less even.

Will this low spacing on a brush effect render times?

I thought it might so I am experimenting with just applying a style on the "ends" of strokes and on problem corner areas.

I could use a higher spacing for corners since a brush always sticks the image on any point of the vector. However it doesn't on both ends just the starting point... so for the other end I need the low spacing.

This requires two defined stroke shapes. One for the brush and another one for the plain stroke.

It looks wonderful and I am very very happy.

Thanks for the tip! I also am getting a bit frustrated with square end caps.
I'll try out what you suggested.
