The sound track always exports starting at the beginning. So if you go to frame 1200 and export the sound starts at THE BEGINNING of the sound file.

I don't usually have animations that I would need to go to frame 1200 to START my rendering. If the animation is already that long I would break it out into a new segment or project.

1200 frames at 24 fps is nearly a full minute of time. So if you start at that point your animation is more than a minute. that is an awfully big chunk for one animated shot.

I admit this sound track issue with AS is a pain in the arse but there's nothing else to do about it till they fix it.

I think this is the umpteenth time that I said that you can make the soundtrack start at other any frame than frame 1!!!

Just put your project settings to be:
Start frame = 1200
End Frame = 1500

and your imported soundtrack would BEGIN at frame 1200!!!.

You can want to do this if you are dubbing parts of your animation and render them separately.

It is only insane if there are particles involved in the animation.
