Depth of field in AS6?

I've just purchased AS6, and I'm loving it!

I never knew how to do correct depth of field.. is this done just by adding blur to each layer? Does the camera pull focus?

Here's my little test.. but the blurryness seems to pop, especially in the background hill layer.. (the dark outline) This was done setting blur factor in each layer.

Drew the tree thing in Flash MX, exported as illustrator6, imported into AS6 ..

Anyone with any tips? I can't seem to find reference to this in the help.. or forums!
