How do you think this was done? I've come up with two ways it could be done. One way is using the scatter brush and maybe masking to get more refined edges. The other way would be really tedious and would involve having the drawing done and working backwards in the timeline changing the alpha of the different dots to zero. I think the artist used a technique similar to the first one I mentioned. Any other ways you can think of doing this?

I remember we talked about this video before. I don't remember how exactly it was done, I suppose it's masking, but I did an experiment which worked very well.

I created an style called "points", on this style, I used a dotted brush. Then, using that style, I painted a picture using the freehand tool. Then I selected all points and animated the exposure using stroke exposure tool.

Thanks Selgin, stroke exposure didn't occur to me though I did think about creating a brush before I thought about using the scatter brush.
