Change length of timeline

Post by ernpchan »

How can I change the length of the timeline? ASP looks to default to 240 frames but my scene is shorter than that. I'd like to get the timeline to only show the frames I need.

Thx.

Thanks slowtiger but that didn't actually change the end length of my timeline. That looks to just set the working length of the timeline. Using AfterEffects as reference, if I make a comp that's 187 frames, my timeline is only 187 frames. It's not 240 frames with my preview range set to 1-187.

It doesn't work as it does in AE. The timeline is always the same (infinite length), but the blue color over the number tells you how many frames your animation lasts.

I guess there's no button to get the timeline to auto-fit to the blue color area? It seems like a lot of wasted timeline space if my shot isn't 240 frames long. For example, if my animation is just 60 frames long then I have 180 frames of empty space that's not being used.

You can set the end frame to 60 yourself.
Setting the end frame to zero in project settings automatically adjusts it to the last keyframe in the timeline.

and for preview, control+left click and control+right click on the timeline will set the start and end frames - IOW only the frames between those markers will be rendered for preview
