timeline jumping ahead

When I hit play, my playhead jumps forward to frame 300. I've tried a number of things and looked in the manuals for an answer, but so far haven't been able to get my animation to just play from 1 without skipping ahead. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Many thanks.

This would only happen if you have that frame set as the first frame (alt+left-click on timeline frame numbers).

Is the key on frame 1 set to step?

Another way you could have made this happen, would be if you had done a Ctrl+left-click on frame 200.
Is there any chance you could give us a screen-shot of your timeline at frame 200?

Synthsin, thanks so much! I have a mac and a wacom tablet, so did the equivalent of your suggestion. I option-tapped on frame 1 in the numbered bar in the timeline. When I did it the bar turned blue showing that my animation started at frame 1. Screen shot at this link. I can't figure out how to attach an image. https://www.flickr.com/photos/8901012@N ... ed-public/
