Moho to Grease Pencil

Post by dueyftw »

I just started to play around with Moho export to Blender's Grease Pencil.

If you export a Moho FBX into Grease Pencil it will not work because Moho FBX output is ASCII and Blender uses binary.

A converter can be found here:

But when imported into blender the layer odder is messed up. I seemed to use the names as what odder of layers in the hierarchy.
In Moho it's (lables, armL, head, Leg L, Body, Ler R Arm R)
In Blender it's (arm L, Arm R, body, head, Leg L, Leg R)

Anyone have an idea on how to change this other than changing the names in Moho to alphabet odder?

It doesn't appear that the hierarchy of vector layers is written to the FBX.
To solve this, you might try putting every vector layer in its own group, but I'm not even sure that would work.

No, didn't work. But it did give me blank layer groups to rearrange the layers by copy and pasting.

Maybe name the groups alphabetically?
No idea, as I don't use Blender.

Hope that little bit helped.

That's a very interesting idea though. I don't use Blender either but planning to learn it this summer as a possible replacement for my current 3D program. Wasn't thinking of using it directly with Moho but now I'm intrigued.

The other thing is that going from blender's grease pencil to Unity might fix the fbx import from Moho.
Or make an enrolment in unity then use fbx to bring into Blender with the 2d animation coming from Moho.

https://docs.unity3d.com/Packages/com.u ... rting.html

I got a lot of studying to do with Blender and some more with Unity. But this pipeline could be a game changer, no more struggling with After Effects to get the 2d with 3d backgrounds.

Maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick here (often happens), but for *simple* 3D environments you could take a look at
Crocotile 3D
Just an idea..
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?
