In the time it takes you to dream and write about auto riggers here, you could've already rigged up three characters :P

Just do the work, it's not that hard and start with a simple character.

Also, i find most of the time simpler rigs with limited turning but therefore designed to the scene that you want to animate are more effective than spending fifty years on a do-all, be-all 360° thing that ends up falling apart as soon as a scene gets more complex. I just finished a project within 8 days using two characters that can turn from front to side and it took me like a day and a half to rig them all up but that is because i had a storyboard and knew exactly what the characters needed to be able to do. Planning is everything and can save you a lot of unnecessary work.

Better than my dreams last night: I had a shivering feaver and repeatedly rendered the same scene in wrong format - the whole night long.

Quick! Write down everything you did in your dream before you forget it!
You must make the auto-rigger!
It's your destiny!

In fact I solved some rigging problems in half-sleep more than once. I've trained to not forget those dreams, to get up and write them down.

Same here.

This is also why I don't mind commercials: I've trained myself to problem-solve during commercials. The moment the video or football game or whatever goes to a commercial, my brain is like, "What if I record myself blowing across the microphone? Would that sound like an eerie wind for that scene I'm working on?"

I get my best ideas standing in the shower. Of course with the drought we're experiencing, these ideas are getting expensive. 😸

Hmm.
Perhaps the generation of ideas has nothing to do with the spraying of water, but the location.
Try standing in the shower area for fifteen minutes with the water turned off and see what happens.

Only do that if you live alone, otherwise someone will come in at min 12 and ask some serious questions.

You may be onto something there. I get some good ideas sitting on the toilet too. (Um...too much information?)

Hmm.
Perhaps merely thinking within the vicinity of modern plumbing is source of your creativity.
Go stand on a manhole cover and see what happens.
