No pen pressure on Mac (Wacom)

Post by slowtiger »

Now this is odd. I finally purchased a new Wacom tablet (24pro, no touch), pen pressure works fine in other applications (TVPaint), but the freehand tool in Moho 13.5 only gives me a uniformly thin line. How can I change this? Didn't find any preference regarding this.

You can change it selecting the FreeHand tool, and clicking on the options of the freehand tool.
Keep in mind that, at least with my graphic tablet, Moho 13.5 (older versions don't have this problem) won't be able to detect pressure sensitivity unless windows ink is activated. And sadly I get a few other problems when I keep windows ink activated.

@Daxel,

That was my first thought but I believe Windows Ink is specifically a Windows thing, not Mac.

Sadly, I have no idea what could affect a Wacom connected to a Mac this way. :(

I use a Huion and there was a setting for Digital Pen Pressure.
I also have to run the Huion driver program before the pen pressure starts working.

If the Pen Pressure is working fine in other applications it's probably a Moho setting: In the freehand tool, check the toolbar. There's a dropdown menu called "Freehand Options" in which you can set the 'Variable Line Width' to 'Use Pen Pressure'.

If that doesn't work, go to "System Preferences..." > "Wacom Tablet" > and remove "Moho" from the application list, because if it's there it means you have changed the Wacom settings for that specific Application. Removing it will default the settings to your current Wacom Settings in that application.

Thank god 😅 I wish Windows Ink wasn't even a Windows thing...

No luck so far. Of course I've checked that 'Use Pen Pressure'. I only get a very thin line. When I select all points and increase the width, it's uniformly the same over all points.

I wonder if it because you're 2 versions behind on the OS?

I was starting to have all kinds of issues with programs working and finally had to get an M1 with Version 12 Monterrey.
Even Blender was no longer working for me.

No, as I said, pen pressure works for all other programs.

New data point: I installed version 11.2 on the very same machine (OS 10.15) and freehand tool worked with pen pressure nicely, right from the start.

So 13.5 ignoring pen pressure is definitely a 13.5 problem.

For what it's worth, Pen Pressure works fine here, on this combination of versions:
  • Moho 13.5.5
  • macOS 11.6
  • Cintiq27QHD
  • Driver 6.3.40-2
