graphic development

Post by ming_goku »

I´ve discovered Moho recently and i think it´s a powerful and cheap tool to create impresive animations. But i´m not so sure about it´s graphic possibilities. The Moho drawing tools are poor, and import from Illustrator it´s not a successful solution.
I wish to work in a complex drawing software (Illustrator, Freehand, Coreldraw) and import in moho keeping the graphics quality (fills, gradients). It´s that possible? may i work with PNG graphics?

Thanks.

Moho can only import the basic curves and colors from Illustrator files. It cannot import gradients and other effects.

Yes, you can import PNG images into Moho. If you're using version 4.x, take a look at the image-related tutorials in the manual. If you're using the version 5 beta, then the manual is incomplete, but will be finished soon. When it comes out, check out the image tutorials. There's a new one in the v5 manual that shows how to use images as textures, like this:

Not as vectors - Moho doesn't support all the complex fills and gradients specialised illustration software can produce - illustration programs often won't even support the gradients and effects from another illustration program.

Yes! In at least two ways - cut-out illustration (see Moho 4.6 tutorial 6) or as textures (see Moho 4.6 tutorial 21)

You can also use image warping (see Moho 4.6 tutorial 10), but this is possibly less useful for character animation.

And, of course, image layers can be used as backgrounds, props, etc.
