Hi,
I submitted a ticket to the developers describing what's going on with imported images and the display preview, and asked them to examine this and two other related threads.
I also asked if the low-res display preview is intended to improve performance and, if so, if they could make this an option since there are situations when the user will need to see the image in its full resolution (like for tracing.)
Hopefully, we'll hear something.
