Here you are sir. Always happy to oblige. Just a random shape I drew with the mouse. Copied the layer and switched the left one to "legacy curves". The one on the right uses the new fangled curves. I didn't change anything else between the two. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/504190/Images/newSmoo...

New Curves in AS 7

Despite Smith Micro's best efforts, I managed to get hold of the demo of AS7. First thing I discovered is a cute little tickbox under Vector Layer > Layer Settings window > Vectors > Legacy curves. When you create a new vector layer, it should default to unticked. The result is curves that look much...

Hey, you avoided my question! Is your forum already active or is it just a placeholder link?

Some of the contributors in this thread fail to appreciate that most people have more going on in their life than just checking out a demo. I can not begin to count how often I have downloaded a demo only to forget about it because of this weird and unpredictable thing called life. There's bound to ...

Just out curiosity, has anybody ever tried Retas Stylos HD ? I tried the demo once bit didn't get very far as is often the case when you just want to have a quick look. The drawing tools felt superb though. It's all vectors but you'd never guess. Unlike any other vector drawing package I've ever tri...

Well, you can as many instances of this OS X batch renderer as you want. All you have to do is make copies of the app and run them simultaneously.

Right, seems that recently the standards have changed. For the last 10 years everybody has used 768x576 and 1024x576. But some bright spark somewhere has decided it has to be 788x576 and 1050x576 from now on. I didn't even know about this and I work in this industry. I think a lot of people will pro...

I thought PAL was "non square" pixels? PAL is always 720x576 non-square pixels (=anamorphic). But since AS can't render non-square pixels, you render it out as 768x576 (square pixels) and convert it to 720x576 (non-square pixels) in After Effects or so. Same for widescreen, you render it ...

Failing that, those presets must be kept somewhere. I wonder if it's in a human-readable format in some preferences file that can be changed. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

And it would be better if presets set the frame rate too.

Yup, looks like the default settings for PAL are wrong in version 6. PAL should be 768x576 and widescreen should be 1024x576. Presets also don't seem to change he framerate.

I'm afraid that's how it works. AS Batch renderer is just an interface for the command line renderer and the command line renderer always uses the last codec for QT. As far as renaming the folder, well spotted and my apologies for the inconvenience, the current version has the pathname to the comman...

I made a standalone batch render app for OS X 10.5. The current version is 0.8. I was going to add support for multiple threads, but felt there was little to no demand for it so it has become a bit of abandon-ware on my HD. All the multi threading would do is set off multiple renders at the same tim...

How much has .ai import improved?

In one of the demo video's, there's mention of improved .ai and.eps import. Unfortunately, the demo version has these imports disabled. I'm constantly having to import .ai files, so for me this is a big deal.

Can anybody shed any light on how much these features have changed?
