morphing effect

Post by tiannaidan »

I'm not sure if morphing is the correct term for what I want. I am trying to animate a sequence like something you would see with claymation. The character can have arms or legs extend from out of the main body and then pull back inside. Imagine a ball of clay then has arms appear out of the ball then go back inside again. What I can't figure out is how to make the arms appear to come be coming from the main body. I thought about having the arm hidden behind the body then scale the arm up to make it seem to be coming from body, then scale it back again. Is this totally confusing? The idea is simple, I just don't know how to explain it. Anyone remember gumby hehe.

You may want to use point animation and a character made up from several shapes which look like being only one. Have a look at the button which switches off the outline between two points, you'll need it.

Like slowtiger said, you can do point animation for this or even Masking.

Those are both good ideas but won't really work with what I have in mind. I'll keep experimenting, thanx
