Re: 507 mechanical movements
They can only claim copyright for what they did themselves on the website. The images as well as the whole concept are from Henry T Brown's 1868 book. And they don't own any copyright on the movements!
Just another example for a downright stupid copyright claim.

Re: 507 mechanical movements
Phew! Thank goodness! I already created a few of those gizmos using physics and motors in ASP without ever seeing that site, good reference though. Now I have some inspiration for more "Rube Goldberg" devices.slowtiger wrote:They can only claim copyright for what they did themselves on the website. [edit] They are using browser CANVAS animation. THAT'S why they have the heavy handed copyright. They don't want people stealing the web code driving the animation (canvas animation is a pain in the ARSE).
Re: 507 mechanical movements
Oh man... <sigh>. I LOVE stuff like this. Specifically I love recreating machines like this in ASP using physics. Not even practical, just for "fun" like when I was kid with legos and Erector sets. I could spend all day recreating some of these gizmos... if I didn't have real work to do.
