Frequently Asked Question

(Windows) License key is invalid
Last Updated 5 years ago

The license key should be entered exactly as it appears with all the letters capitalized and including the dashes. There are no letter O's in the license key - those are all the number zero. If copying and pasting, make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the license key, as those will cause the license key to be invalid.

Some Anime Studio and Moho 12 users may find that even though you are entering the license key correctly you are still encountering the error about the license key being invalid. That is likely caused by an outdated patch version of your Anime Studio or Moho 12, and a patch is needed for the activation process to work properly again. Please go to:

https://my.smithmicro.com/

to download and install the latest patch for your version of Anime Studio or Moho 12.

If you are still having trouble after that, then delete the following folder

C:\ProgramData\Smith Micro\(Anime Studio or Moho)\

ProgramData may be hidden. Go to your Control Panel, change from Categories to an Icon view on the right, select Folder Options and under the View Tab, select Show Hidden Files and Folders to allow you to view the ProgramData folder.

Reboot and launch Anime Studio or Moho 12.
