move alligator tail (bottom) bone in 3d space
Hi everybody...I've drawn a alligator but I need it move its tail not in a plane space (horizontal and vertical) I need move it in 3d plane (front to back) I don't care if it don't look so realist because the animation sense is than it is a imagen and not a real alligator..
the problem is than my bones only move in the x y plane and I can't manipulate it in 3d space...I try convert my imagen in a 3d figure with extrude but it don't work neither...are there any way for doing this?
sorry for my poor english...
and thanks so much

you can do it with a textured 3d vector, bones and a couple tricks.
I'll record a video to show you.

Here you have
Video tutorial (or similar)

And anme file

PD: anyway, you can always simulate 3d rotations on normal vectors and images. move points, scale bones and using textures is very useful for that.

I'm glad you like this tutorial and my workcocoOS wrote:Whooo...selguin you are amazing...thank so much...actually I'm big fan your work and I decided buy AS later see your work on youtube as tazatriste and I'm very happy with this now..
It's a weird nice feel to know my work is inspiring (or whatever the right word be) other people. Thank you.
It would be nice to see some of your test in the future. 3d in AS is extremely basic compared with any specialized 3d software, but it has saved me a lot of work many times.funksmaname wrote:this is interesting thanks Selgin.
I've not actually touched any 3D elements of AS at all... I think I will when I have some time!

Thing is I wouldn't want it to replace an existing 3D program, but for quickly sketching a guide to solve some head scratching (much like the aligator tail in this post) - and using it as a guide to trace 2D lines over could be very useful!
I didn't even know how to lathe until now I will play with it...

@funksmaname, I messed around with bones and 3d and did some test that looked promising but I did not go any farther with it. What I did was have many bone layers in a group layer and moved them on the Z plane. Here is one that only took an hr or two to make. I could of made a much better walk cycle but got lazy.
